You might want to look at that tranny then if you cant feel the shifts. Soft shifts mean slipping which means wearing out the tranny. They should be somewhat firm but not neck breaking firm.

My engine starts instantly and since putting Mobil Synthetic ATF in the tranny it shifts so smoothly I can barely feel it shift! I'm amazed every time I drive it!

Toss up between a W124 and a 86/87 SDL. But since the W124 is a known entity I'm tempted to go with that --
