LarryT, right now I'm using Dragon version 4; I started with version 1 couple of years ago that a friend gave me, but I did not use it much. You don't really need a speaker. A headset with mike came with my version, but the headset went bad several months ago, and I purchased a cheap headset with mike at Staples that works fine. I've made pretty good progress since I really got serious about trying to use the program two to three months ago.
