You said a 123 suspension, right, on the 84? The 79 is a 123, so I'm guessing they are the same. I can't keep track of years and numbers and all.

I am not close to diagnosing the rotatot(tot). It might be better to put your brother underneath, but no loose clothing to catch on the driveshaft.

Rich,
I noticed a couple of things from the write-up you provided 1) Your write-up
references your work on a '79 300TD and I'm not sure this is the same as my
'84 300D, and 2) The addendum you added relative to a creaky sound emanating
from my front end was from a couple years ago and was diagnosed/repaired by
replacing the lower font ball joints. I'm guessing the rot-a-tot or
rot-a-tot-tot sound I'm currently experiencing when traversing bumps in my
'84 300D is either in the left upper control arm area or the left sway bar
bushing as the sound seems to be higher and only on the left (ish) side.
I'll have to wait till Easter and a visit to my brother so I can emulate
Click-Clack and strap him to the hood to see if he can determine exactly
where the sound is emanating from.
Thanx.
