I have a IBM T60p and was using FC6 until one day after installing some updates gnome was gone. So I figured it was time to install FC7. I installed FC7 and nothing worked, suspend didn't work, took forever to get wireless working, etc. Finally after a week of trying to get suspend working I installed ubuntu and everything except compiz worked after install. I was impressed!
For example in FC6 it took me about 2 weeks to get my HP 5si network printer to work, under Ubuntu it found the printer and installed it for me by clicking add printer. Under FC6 I had to compile my wireless driver and configure NetworkManager, while it just worked with Ubuntu. Needless to say I will not be returning to Fedora...
