As usual I got lazy and didn;t type as much as I should have. When I said 
"raping" I was talking about this one instance where the alt was $178 and 
the shop wanted $578 (or so) - to me that's a bit extreme.

Also, I know the shop has to make a profit.  No problem there.

Also - building in some fat for returns (there are some truely awful 
customers out there) is necessary.  Whenever I get a shop to use my parts I 
always agree to get any replacement parrts - my time and cost & agree to pay 
the labor again.   That's only fair.

Don't want anyone to think I believe all/most are dishonest.   I've found 
several shops that will use parts from my suppliers.  But I don't make this 
requet every time & I give each shop a lot of business.  Even though I don't 
let shops do lots of jobs, I do pay people to do FE alignments, exh work, AC 
work and my pickup needs pro servicing - things are either too small for my 
hands (it's japanese) or its a black box problem.
