90 Wt gear oil in a Benz manual transmission will make it impossible to shift when it's cold -- they were DESIGNED to use ATF, and have been since the 1960's at least.
Many a "newbie" has drained out the original oil and replaced it with 90 Wt gear oil to find the shifter immobile on the first cold morning, and if not changed out soon, damage to the tranny from inadequate lubrication. Use Mobil 1 ATF, tranny should then last nearly forever.
