I had no problem at all getting the code from my dealership. Showed them my proof of ownership and they happily gave me the code. I have bought a few parts from them but not enough that they would remember me.
Actually, they've treated me very well (MB of Richmond Va) - bought a GP amp which failed after 3 weeks - brought it back, told them how I had tested it and they gave me a new one. If I'm ever in a position to buy a new or newish MB I'll talk to them. Granted, there are some dealers with poor customer relations, but there are also some that are great to deal with.
