The 2.5 rear has got to be way higher, autos usually use a higher rear anyway
right?
I ride in 5th alot, of course I drive on the highway alot...

Our 190D 5-speed doesn't make much use of 5th gear. That may
be because it might have the wrong rear end in it. (It's a conversion,
a 2.2's tranny in a 2.5 auto car.)
