An excellent custom which ought to be adopted in the US as well, I've always thought. It's a clear, unambiguous signal, much better than flashing your high beams, which (a) is obnoxious (b) temporarily blinds the person in front of you if they don't have their mirror set to "night" (c) distracts drivers on the other side of the road and (d) ought to be reserved for more serious alerts, such as warning drivers going the other way of a speed trap.
