If you know the size of the fastener and the thread you can generally look up 
the appropriate torque on a chart. If
it did not come with your torque wrench, then look on the net.

Alternatively, as has been said, just tighten to snug and then check them a 
couple of times after you have run it a
bit to see if they are staying tight. Shouldn't be the sort of thing where 
there is any real magic to it. Too many
variables for accurate torque in a lot of areas anyway - especially with low 
numbers, I would think.

My experience with non MB products is that they often loosen a bit.

Glenn, sorry I do not know the exact answer but I would say just a
little more than snug -- maybe 5 lb-ft ??

All you need is for the gasket to be pressed enough to prevent oil
leaks.  Since it's a cast aluminum cover, I don't think you want to
clamp down too hard for fear of cracking it.
