My 300SD came with bigger tires than I could easily find, they are either 235-75R14 or 225-75R14. Got better than expected mileage driving it home from Florida as fast as the highway patrol would allow, I think it was 27-28mpg averaging 75-80mph. I believe your car has the same 3.07 final drive as mine does, which is probably good gearing for 45-50mph, it's what mbz chose to give us when our speed limit was 55mph.
