Photo attached of homemade tool to hold the crank pulley. Wouldn't need to weld
if you had a long piece of flat
steel.

Subject: [MBZ] OT: Harmonic Balancer Bolt Removal

I am currently trying to remove the harmonic balancer on my '92 Toyota pickup.
The oil pump is on the front of the
timing cover. The seal failed and it is leaking like a sieve. I have tried a
couple different ideas to remove this
bolt and nothing has worked yet. I have a half inch impact and it didn't budge
the bolt. I tried putting a breaker
bar on the bolt and cranking the engine ( I will try that one again, as soon as
the battery is fully charged). I
also tried putting the truck in fifth gear, setting the parking brake and using
a large cheater pipe on a breaker
bar. I now know that my clutch slips. Like I really need something ELSE to fix.
If I had a welder, I would attempt
to weld up a jig, alas, I currently have no welder. Any ideas?
