Two of the rods that work to move all the throttle stuff [like my technical terms?] had been swapped at some point in the past. Manfred fiddled with trying to get the snag out of the linkage movement while having the stop lever be in the correct position, and finally discovered that to get that to happen the rods needed to be swapped. On my car it was the one going down near the stop lever and the one going directly across the top, I think attached to the same piece. Amazing difference. What can I say, it's a gift. I'm sure if you dropped by his place [worth it to watch progress on his dome home] he would take a look for you. Let's see: 2,970.5 miles each way [according to MS Streets and Trips], so rounding up just a bit for going around pot holes and such make it 6k miles and about 2 weeks driving time each way, If you don't eat or sleep you can make the trip in even less time for about $1,ooo. Good luck. Probably should call him first to make sure he would be home. BillR

That rearrangement of the throttle rods you did yesterday was nothing short of amazing. I wish he was closer to ME so that he could fiddle around with my '83 300SD! What was out of whack on yours?
