When you say "Stanley knife" I think of this (in my family, we always
called them "carpet knives"):

When you say "Box Cutter", I think of a thin handle for a single
edge razor blade, with a sliding metal sheath, the whole thing is maybe
5mm thick. Can't find a pic of it on the 'net. They were cheap, you could
buy one for maybe $0.25 in the 70's or you could often get a free one as
advertising.
I had a yellow one with Schweppes' beverages logo on it when I was a wee lad.

From Wiki:"In Australia, it is illegal to sell a cutting implement such as a
utility knife to
anyone under 16 years of age, and proof of age is often demanded of purchasers."
