Meanwhile the official wiki plainly states <https://www.mercurial-scm.org/wiki/BranchingExplained> that light branching is a different abstraction, and branches should not be used for for that. So what IS the recommended way then? Is there one? I may have a horse in this race but I'd be more than happy to see it lose to a better one.
