I think he is right with that worry to some degree. For example hgsubversion was also working very well, but it didn’t get ported to python3 as far as I can tell, so it’s currently non-operational (please correct me if I’m wrong!) That Python3 transition caused a ton of breakage in extensions. One that I maintain could only be recovered in the past year (infocalypse).
