Were you able to solve your issue ?

I am not sure about what your mean regarding "pip is not able to install the most recent evolve extension". Can you elaborate about the error you get when trying to install ?

Well, thanks, but it seems that pip is not even able to install the most
recent evolve extension, since hg topics is not recognized.

I just pull the latest hg-stable, run make local and run ./hg
I obtain some errors caused by incompatibilities with extensions I use
often. I will send a different message, concerning this issue.
