One thing springs to mind, I wonder if it is possible to have some visual 
differents to "local" repos compared to
external repos, for example the local "commit" and the remote "push" have the 
same symbol but operate on different
repos I do not have any idea on how to visualize this without making it unclear.

Also since Im a left to right reader Id like the orginal repo on the left and 
the arrow on the rigth e.g. "O<-" insted
of "->O" but as I think this is some kind of standard we should stick with it.

Maybe breaking from this standard could viusalize remote/local repo?
E.g. remote repo on the left and local repo on the right

"->O" commit
"O<-" push
"O->" pull
"^O" update  (arrow upward)

Just an crazy Idea from an old man...
(also if this is the case should there be diffrent icon for 
right->left/up->down readers? That could mess up stuff
when you try to explain this to newbies)
