There is not really a precedence, its always the local repository
unless you have specified a shared object repository to use - its
strictly an "either or", not one and then the other.  Each version of
QTP is slightly different, but in order to even use a shared object
repository in a test script you have to add/associate it to the
script.  QTP v10 and v11 you "Associate Repositories" and this then
says which actions will use which shared object repository (otherwise
they just use the local).  Prior versions you change it in "Test
Settings > Resources" by selecting the radio button for the "Object-
repository type" - select "Shared" for the shared object repository
and then specify the path to the SOR, or select the radio button for
"Per-Action" (which is a local OR; this is the default).
