There are 3 different function library formats which you can associate with
your test cases. These are -

1) .qfl(qtp function library) - This is the standard QTP function library.
2) .vbs
3) .txt

All these 3 can be used with QTP and i dont think there should be any
performance issue wrt using any of these.
