This could also be due to some recently installed Update to any of your Application on your PC, may be in background a process is running that kills the process of IE when invoked by QTPPro Process. I remember we faced an issue of such IE crash due to one of the Citrix process. We got rid of the Citrix on that machine to solve it then, but I am not saying it would be Citrix in your case too, but please monitor the Apps that have been recently updated or installed on your PC.
