In windows based application I have seen gettextlocation being used.
E.g. below
hwnd=Window("Launchbar.....").WinObject("..MultiselectTreeView..").GetROProperty("hwnd")
l=-1
r=-1
t=-1
b=-1
var=textutil.GetTextLocation("Read",hwnd,l,r,b,t)
x = (l+r) / 2
y = (t+b) / 2
