Hi Boris, This bug has already been corrected in SVN. I plan to release an interim Windows version this Weekend.
I like your idea of having track layers read-only. I would make this optional, though, as I know some mappers like to delete unnecessary nodes of their tracks. If you could open a TRAC ticket with this suggestion, I'd be grateful.
