Well thanks a lot for that suggestion. I was recently dealing with relations in Merkaartor and was not able to select the desired relation. I don't know if this was because relations which are not connected aren't downloaded completely or if this was just a problem with selecting the correct border of the relation. I had not had the time to dig into that a little further. Anyway I'm looking forward to trying this with the text based selection tool (in other cases too).
