I just heard a blurb on the nightly Canadian radio news show
(which airs on NPR at 8pm around here), about Aaron Blosser
(who earlier this year installed Prime95 on 2000+ PCs at some
sompany, only to be stopped by the network security folks there)
being accused by USWest of hacking into their computer system.
The piece said Blosser worked for a USWest contractor and was
not authorized to access USWest's computers.
I was too busy listening to my jaw drop with surprise to be
sure I caught all the details (in particular, whether actual
charges had been filed), so perhaps Aaron can fill us in?
(Assuming he's not sweating under bright lights as we speak...)
The reporter made it sound like we who "search for a certain
type of prime" (dramatic pause here) are in the same class as
the hackers one more often hears about. Well, if we're going
to view Prime95 as a virus, then I'm proud to say my home
computer is currently running the most efficient virus around.
Regards,
Ernst
