Uh, let's not get carried away - my French is very rudimentary.

But I can help you with some of the acronyms you cite - most of
these are common abbreviations by english-speaking net users.
The ones you sent, as well as some others I can think of at the
moment:
IMHO - In My Humble Opinion; the "H" often proves inappropriate
to the commentary that follows.
IMO - In My Opinion
BTW - By The Way
FWIW - For What It's Worth, or Free Willy, you Ignoble Wastrels
QED - Quod Erat Demonstrandum (Latin for "There it is, dude"),
or Quantum ElectroDynamics, depending on the context.
s.t. - something
FUBAR- (sometimes written with "OO" instead of U); this one is a
bit apocryphal, but generally interpreted as Fouled (or F*cked)
Up Beyond All Recognition.
$.02 - Two cents, as in "Just my $.02 worth," meaning FWIW.
Also, somebody recently used the following:
Gdunken- corruption (i.e. FUBAR) of the German "Gedanken,"
meaning "thought." In modern physics classes (at least
in the U.S. and of course in German-speaking countries),
one often hears about a "Gedanken experiment," which, BTW,
is s.t. Einstein was known for, although he didn't do QED.
IMHO, 'Nuff (= "enough") philology for one day.
FWIW,
Ernst
