You must remember, that the competition, and the statistics, and the top producers lists, are all really very tangential to the *real* purpose of GIMPS: the math. I don't run GIMPS on my home machine, nor do AYL and I run it on our "LASTLY" computer at school (LASTLY is an anagram of STL-AYL) because we want to be one of the top producers: that ain't likely. Rather, we do it *JUST BECAUSE* we like the math. No other reason. "Just because" is a powerful driving force, and it's pushed many of the greatest mathematicians to their discoveries. S.T.L.
