I've been away for a while, sorry if this is old ground.
A bunch of Macs in my life would love to add to the effort, along with my
PCs. I've found the MacLucas program, which was never very useable, is now
unuseable; presumably the exponents are too large.
I can't find anything online about efforts to produce a proper client
(network enabled & stable) for Mac, which surprises me. Macs have been
major contributors to the RC-xx crack efforts and would be valuable
contributors to GIMPS, I think. I find GIMPs much more attractive than
RC-64, as I will probably live long enough to see a couple more primes
found, while I don't expect to outlive the RC-64 project.
Anyone aware of any work in Mac-GIMPs land?
Regards,
Richard
