I don't think you misunderstood. 8 is a sum of 3 and 5, which are prime
numbers.  The conjecture is that all even numbers greater than 4 is a
sum of two prime numbers (not necessarily the same or different).  As far
as I know, this conjecture is not proven though and thus shouldn't be
considered a theorem.
