Appreciated, really.
While we're at it (don't worry, I'll try and be on-topic), are there any
large groups out there that run GIMPS software on corporate computers? I'm
just curious if other companies are more wary now (if they're aware of my
situation), or if they would view it as I do, i.e. a severe over-reaction.
The reason I'm seeking input: I'm in the process of trying to convince my
current contract to let me run NT Prime on a few servers that otherwise
don't do anything (they're hot-standby's for our clusters). My boss is
convinced that it's a basically harmless program, but he just wanted to know
how many other companies allow it. It would also be good to know in case
this ever does go to court...I could show some examples of other companies
who don't view it as a security threat (clearly that is US WEST's prime
concern here I gather).
Meanwhile, I know have a little P166 chugging away now on factors...I'm back
baby!! :-) (using a different ID now...the old "blosser" account scares me
now). Plus I now have a P200 laptop that my work loaned me...I may find the
next prime yet! ;-)
Regards,
Aaron
