Yes. The idea is that, if the factoring was left, then you might find 
a factor straight away & have no work left to do. Doing the factoring 
in the middle of a current assignment means that if you do find a 
factor (lucky! - saves running the LL test) you have plenty of time 
to get more work assigned to you.
