They do inform their participants about such things. But people who are cool enough to find million-digit-primes should be able to find out that the server is down the whole weekend..... Well, you have to pay for it (in Germany), but who cares?   Such an outage didn�t occur for the first time in my (nearly) three years supporting GIMPS and others will follow.
