I tried to upgrade my mesa package to 7.9, upon rebooting I wasn't able to log
into my KDE session, each time I typed my password the login prompt was
displayed again after a short time and some flicker. This happened every
reboot. I downgraded packages and narrowed the problem as part of the libgl
7.8.2 -> 7.9 upgrade.
The problem is still present with git version. I bisected the issue to the
following commit :

My system run a HD5770 graphics card and swrast is used (I was trying to make
the radeon driver to work when I came accross the issue) :
