Actually it isn't radeon specific. Using linear surfaces for this makes sense because tilling isn't beneficial and the surfaces can potentially be shared with other GPUs using the VDPAU OpenGL interop.

The problem is that I actually can't say if a surfaces will be shared with another GPU or not when it is created. So the driver needs to be able to handle this case gracefully and move the surface to GART on demand when it is opened by another GPU.

I don't think we have actually tested this with PRIME and I'm pretty sure there are some loose ends which still needs to be fixed for radeon as well.

So the patch is Acked-by: Christian König <christian.koe...@amd.com> for now, but essentially we need to find a better solution to this.
