Citizens,

I've committed some updates on the experimental branch. The major
changes since my last post on this are:

        - Fast path implemented in the FX driver for the common
transformation and rasterization only pipeline configurations.

        - Fake multitexture support for single tmu 3dfx cards.

        - Short-circuited and streamlined state change code.

The newer code is now active by default, and I'd be pleased to get a
couple of people using it. At least for quake 3, the benefits are
good: between 20 and 35% improvement depending on which of my two boxes
I do the test.

Voodoo-1 owners will especially benefit from the fake multitexture
support. This may sound controversial, but it should be possible to get
a fully compliant implementation of the spec with almost the same number
of software fallback cases as on the voodoo2. Neither card's driver
performs the full range of multitexture modes in hardware.
