I've merged code from the experimental branch upto the tag 'merge-1' back into
the main branch. I'd like to see that branch shut down fairly shortly - I'd like
to merge any new code that's appeared over the last week or so in the next couple
of days.
If people want to continue on on that branch after that that's ok - you'll just
have to manage the merge yourself when you feel confident in your changes. Bear
in mind that there is increasing divergence between the branches.
