Precision Insight released the first version of the Direct Rendering Infrastructure (DRI) to XFree86 in June 1999 (this version is currently available in the XFree86 3.9.15 snapshot). Since that time, we have been thinking about how to enhance and improve the DRI to better support more features and a wider range of graphics hardware. The first draft of a brief summary of our thoughts is now available for comment: http://precisioninsight.com/dr/dri2.html http://precisioninsight.com/dr/dri2.ps http://precisioninsight.com/dr/dri2.txt Before we complete a final draft in late August, we'd like to obtain impressions, feedback, and suggestions from the XFree86 and Mesa communities. To cut down on mailing list bandwidth, please direct XFree86-specific comments to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and Mesa-specific comments to [EMAIL PROTECTED] (many issues are orthogonal, so you don't need to be on both lists). You may also want to talk with us at SIGGRAPH '99 in LA (perhaps at the Linux/OpenGL BOF). Although comments are always welcome, they will be most effective if we receive them on or before August 17. To get on the [EMAIL PROTECTED] list: 1) If you are already an XFree86 developer, please send a human-readable email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives are available from http://www.xfree86.org/devel/archives/glx/ using the standard username/password. 2) If you are not an XFree86 developer, please see http://www.xfree86.org/developer.htm for information on how to become one. To get on the [EMAIL PROTECTED] list: Send human-readable email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives are available from http://www.mail-archive.com/mesa-dev@mesa3d.org/ [Note: The list is intended for people developing the Mesa library, and should not be used for discussion of application development.] _______________________________________________ Mesa-dev maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.mesa3d.org/mailman/listinfo/mesa-dev
