(I was beginning to wonder if this day would ever come...) The self-intersecting spiral in book/tesswind now tessellates correctly, at least for the odd winding rule. I'll commit the changes now, and make sure it works for the other winding rules as well. The overlapping rectangles almost work too (one invalid ear is clipped), but at least it makes it through the clipping stage. More to come.
