I volunteer to be your humble servant. I want to improve Mesos. My
interest is primarily selfish (more details under "Why I'm doing this",
below).

Will you help me perfect a "90-day plan" for Mesos?

    https://github.com/mesos/mesos/wiki/90-day-plan

I propose March 1st as the start date. By that time, goals should be
defined. Metrics should be in place for measuring progress towards
goals. People should be identified who are working on the goals. 90 days
from March 1st is May 30th, so on that day we'd review progress.

# Goals

1. Graduate from the Apache Incubator
2. Add two independent committers
3. Involve Mesos in the Google Summer of Code
4. Automate creation of Mac OS X, .rpm, and .deb binary packages

Are these great goals? If not, what goals are better?

# Acceptance

I wasn't sure who needs to accept this plan for it to be real. I just
guessed that the current mentors and committers on
http://incubator.apache.org/projects/mesos.html are the right ones.

# Why I'm doing this

I'm trying to show that I'm the best candidate for
https://twitter.com/jobs/positions?jvi=oXx4Wfwe,Job . To come up with a
plan that (a) wows the hiring manager (b) is accepted by the Mesos
community and (c) succeeds, I'll need help (hence this email)!

# Why I'm qualified

I'm fairly technical, with over a decade of experience in web-ish
development. I've done programming in several languages. I'm passionate
about Free/Libre/Open Source Software.

I've done similar advocacy for a project called Mifos. Mifos faced some
of the same challenges as Mesos (e.g.: niche software, high barrier to
entry). I'm satisfied my work was successful; the Grameen Foundation
(the primary funding source for Mifos software development) stopped
funding the project, but Mifos continues to prosper. All of the current
contributors were identified during my tenure advocating for Mifos.

# What I can do

I don't presume to know what's best for Mesos, but I can help you figure
it out!

I can do coding (though I'm a C++ neophyte), documentation (writing
tutorials, etc), testing, you name it. I can work on these goals. I can
take ownership of this plan and shepherd it to fruition.
