Hi,

Moxie and I are working on better documentation for the Signal

Just to break the stunned silence: this sounds really cool; the more detailed literature there is for Double Ratchet implementations the better - thank you on behalf of the community for spending the time to formally document the Signal behaviour.

There's a whole spectrum of detail to be had here, ranging from your original sketch[1], the terse/mathematical Olm spec[2], the HL description of the Wire Security Whitepaper[3] or indeed the HL description of the WhatsApp Security Whitepaper[4]. It'll be really interesting to see where it goes, and how any of these may feed into some kind of IETF double ratchet spec.

Do you have any idea what sort of license the docs will be released under?

Matthew
