Looks like a plugin has been release in Qt 5.3 that was not available in 5.2:

Building with Qt 5.3 beta seems to have done the trick. CPU usage is down to 35-40% playing video and rotating text. https://community.freescale.com/docs/DOC-100419 That was a big help in getting 5.3 beta to run on wandboard. Cheers, Stephano
