No. I'm using a custom image creation class which does not use
bootimg.bbclass at all.

This used to because that class uses INITRD to determine what it needs
to put into the initrd, but now it misses the microcode.
I can change the class to use INITRD_VM instead, but that does not look
like the right solution.
In OE-core itself, live boot CD currently also seem to lack microcode,
and to me that looks like a bug.
