Thanks for clarification. I have one follow-up question: if I decide to go with community branches (e.g. honister) and I work with Zynq UltraScale+, which version of Viviado is compatible? Any reasonably new or exactly 2022.1?

The honester branch should enable both 2022.1 and 2022.2. There are a few minor changes in late 2022.2 updates that have not yet been applied to Honister, but I'll try to sync that today. (Nothing that will affect 99% of users.)

Selection of the tools version is accomplished using "XILINX_RELEASE_VERSION", the default is set to:

XILINX_RELEASE_VERSION ??= "v2022.2"

You can set the value you require in your local.conf file, and yes the leading 'v' is currently required.

Currently the langdale and mickledore/master branch enable both as well, and will be adding 2023.1 when it is release. We focus our testing on whatever the latest release version is, we do continue to attempt to keep the slightly older versions working, but always encourage users to migrate to the latest tools versions.
