Oops I meant to reply to the group. That was my original approach and led me to investigate the implementation of external-hdf_20XX.X.bb. I've also tried removing all external-hdf%.bbappend files from my layer so that I just use the defaults for the machine that are provided in hdf-repository_20XX.X.inc. That yields a different error:
find: ‘/home/engineer/my-proj/regression-2024.1/oe-scarthgap/builds/distro/tmp/work/zcu104_zynqmp-linux/external-hdf/2024.1/packages-split/*’: No such file or directory I noticed that the error shows up between the change from honister where the external-hdf.bb did not have different year versions and landale where the recipe includes external-hdf_20XX.X.bb in the name. I'm using a custom distro and not meta-petalinux. I will investigate to see if I'm missing some dependency provided by meta-petalinux, but I've not been using meta-petalinux for years.
