Bitmap convertors

A bit related to the recent discussion: does anyone know how to
convert BMP to GIF or JPG from MetaCard? I guess one would
have to use some other program which accepts commandline
parameters. Anyone know such a freeware program for PC (or
some other way to do the thing)?
