Andu,

I tried setting a custom property using the control panel. You are right --
you can't set any custom properties initially using the control panel on
2.3a5. However, once an object has a custom property (set by script or
message box), then you won't have trouble.

I think you discovered a bug!

To be honest, I'd read your posting earlier today, then forgot about it --
until I tried to set a custom property on a new object. I then remembered
your post. Might have saved me some time and frustration if I'd remembered
it!
