MetaCard stacks can be effectively be compressed. This is not so much an issue when they are stored on the local hard disk, but when they are transferred over http, having them gzipped could greatly improve overall performance. The compression algorithms are already in the engine, so why not try to decompress a file if it does not start with "#!/bin/sh"?
