I haven't tried any of this, but I'd approach the problem by installing
another plug-in and watching what it does. There are plenty of utilities
out there that can track changes to the Registry live on screen. I'd get
one and install another auto-installing plug-in, watching what changes are
made. Then check what other files have been modified on the machine in the
install period, and if any look like Netscape files, open them up and see
what has changed.
My other suggestion is that you consider building a standalone with a single
stack that itself loads some stack in a URL somewhere instead. Users can
download that and run it, and it will then open the door to any content you
wish to provide (the stack it loads from the URL can itself load anything it
likes, present a MC based "home page" or whatever). No configuration
required.
