I'll keep this short. If anyone wants to create a project where they
don't want to have to even think about it being compatible on *other*
platforms then follow this formula. It took me a while to figure out
and I have Scott to thank for the end result.

1- Movies: Always use the *avi* format saved with the *cinepac* codec
(some codecs are not compatible with QuickTime so stick to cinepac)
2- Images: Always use JPEG (all platforms have web browsers so you know
this works!)
3- Audio: Always save using SUN's *au* format (it's either the 8bit or
16bit 2:1 mulaw, the wrong one makes a shrilling sound, sorry but I
can't remember which!)

Suggestion: Always externally reference your stuff.

Using these three formats you will never have to even worry about "will
this movie play here...will this image load there...". The three major
OS's, Mac, Win and Unix can view these three formats from the get go
without *extra* effort to install more software or QuickTime on any
platform.

The project which led me to find this solution is located here (info

If you want to get a CDROM of the project to run on the PC or SGI go
here (select effect* demo):
