I agree that java is not the greatest thing on the planet. I agree that 
we should be wary. But I tried this XCMD and had (almost) no problems. I 
did notice that the example stack used a wait command after trying to 
load a java bean, which on a few occasions when the bean didn't load 
properly, made HyperCard appear hung. Command-period fixed the situation.

On the other hand, in about fifteen minutes (had to update my java 
installation and my copy of HyperCard), I had a web browser in a stack. 
Think about that--a full-blown, graphics-capable, 
javascript-and-cookies-enabled browser. I hit Apple's site and the New 
York Times, and it works well (graphics update on animations was a little 
flickery). This is a Very Good Thing. There are a _lot_ of beans out

Maybe you're right, and we don't need this. But I think it would be great 
to be able to write a MetaCard application that was able to display my 
company's live web page as an about box. (Actually, that would be 
bad--but there are other examples)
